55th International Short Film Festival Oberhausen, 30 April-5 May 2009
Entries to the Oberhausen competitions 2009 possible now
For its 55th edition Oberhausen once again invites submissions to its competitions. 2009 will bring three new developments in the festival programmes. Starting in 2009, the International Competition will be offering more German premieres, because entries will only be eligible if they have not been shown at another German festival. A new section will be introduced with the Open Screening programme: here, any film submitted (and not selected for the competitions) can be presented – provided the filmmaker comes to Oberhausen in person! In addition, productions from North Rhine-Westphalia will be screened in their own competition for the first time. North Rhine-Westphalia boasts one of the liveliest film production landscapes in Germany, which Oberhausen wants to spotlight and foster with its new NRW Competition.
The 55th International Short Film Festival Oberhausen will take place from 30 April to 5 May 2009 in Oberhausen.
The 54th International Short Film Festival screened some 450 films in six days, with around 1,100 accredited industry professionals – filmmakers, festival programmers, curators, buyers, journalists and distributors from nearly 50 different countries – flocking to Oberhausen for this annual event.
